The columns of the Citicorp center couldn’t be built on the buildings corners because they had to needed to accommodate St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. LeMessurier was told to stay away from the corners, which would cause many issues in the design.

  1. The Citicorp buildings major flaw was that LeMessurier didn’t take into account the quartering winds. Every 55 years there was a massive storm that would come and the next storm could possibly destroy the Citicorp Center. This storm could have massive side effects such as a statewide blackout that could break the tuned mass damper, without this there would be much more building destructions.

  2. An undergraduate student discovered this flaw but Joe Morgenstern released the information. He told Lemessuier that the building could potentially be blown over by the wind.
