1. Brians tone actually didn't throw me off at all. He had a calm monotone voice but kind of with a friendly tone at the same time. I thought it was a good tone for this discussion. I believe his tone helped the audience relate and listen to him speak . By adding humor and talking quickly it caused the audience to take an easier approach to this horrible topic. He kept my interest throughout the whole podcast, his change in tone throughout the discussion also helped show the really important parts of the presentation.

2. No I do not agree with this policy. If someone has the strength to call the hotline in the first place, they want help. Calling the hotline alone should be enough of a sign that they need help right away, they should not have to verbally say "I want help". Many people are to stubborn to come out and admit they need the help until its too late. Unless someone deliberately states that they do not want or need help, I believe they should always help. This policy in my opinion is not helpful.

3..When I first listen to the podcast I automatically noticed how personal this topic was to Brian. Our research paper should be very personal to us as well, so we can write an informal research paper but also include our own thoughts and ideas into the paper. Brian also does a great job of bringing background information about himself and his work into his presentation. This is a good example of how we should work our background information about our topics into our own paper.
